What is Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR)?
Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR) with IOM offers you the possibility to return voluntarily to your country of origin with financial support towards your reintegration. IOM will make your travel arrangements, assist you at airports and pay you financial support for your reintegraiton, if you are eligible to receive it.
There are as many different reasons to return as there are persons wanting to return back to their home countries. The situation in the home country might have changed since you left, others just do not want to stay in Finland any longer.
If you are thinking about voluntary return, it is important to keep in mind that the decision to return is always yours. It is not an easy decision, and different alternatives should be considered. IOM encourages that you talk with your friends, your social worker or other authorities before making the decision to return.
In Finland, IOM assisted voluntary returns are carried out under a project called Developing Assisted Voluntary Return in Finland. This project will run from 2010 to 2012 and aims at developing the support services to voluntary returnees from Finland.
If you do not find the information you need on the project on these pages, or in the materials produced by IOM, please do not hesitate to contact IOM.
