Who can apply?

You may apply for voluntary return support if you are an asylum seeker in Finland or if you have received a residence for protection reasons. If your asylum application is still in process you will have to withdraw it in order to return and receive support under the programme.

If you have a Dublin hit, you can return with IOM if you want to return voluntarily to your country of origin. IOM cannot help you to travel to another EU country.

IOM cannot arrange your return if you are a citizen of an EU country or if you have acquired Finnish citizenship.

In 2011 additional groups of persons became eligible under the project, amongst others victims of trafficking. Also persons who have had a residence permit in Finland that has since expired, may be eligible to return with IOM.

Therefore, even if you think that you are not eligible, you are encouraged to contact IOM to hear if you can receive voluntary return support. The groups of eligible persons can change, or IOM might be able to advise you on a partner that can assist you even if IOM cannot.

All applications send to IOM  will be considered on an individual basis. IOM cannot guarantee that all applicants will receive same level of financial support
